Turkish Legislator: Ankara Supporting Terrorism in Syria

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Turkish lawmaker lambasted Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan for supporting the Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist groups in Syria and supplying them with chemical weapons.
“Turkey has turned into a place for the relaxation of the Al-Qaeda terrorists,” representative of Turkey’s People’s Republican Party at the Parliament Khurshid Gounesh said, addressing a press conference on Ankara’s stances on Syria in the Turkish capital on Wednesday.
Gounesh pointed to the discovery and seizure of poisonous Sarin gas in Adana border region in recent months, and said, “The Turkish People’s Republican Party is following up trial of those who were carrying this dangerous gas.”
He criticized the government of Ankara for freeing the five people who had been arrested for the delivery of the Sarin gas consignment.
Last month, the Turkish newspaper Aydinlik Daily reported that Luftu Turkkan, a member of the Parliament for Turkey's MHP, has brought the claim that the Sarin that was used by foreign-backed terrorists in Syria to the agenda of Turkey's Parliament.
Turkkan's and the MHP's initiative added to the growing domestic and international pressure that is mounting against the AKP government of Erdogan and Foreign Minister Davotoglu, for Turkey´s involvement in the unconventional and undeclared war against Syria.
The MHP and Turkkan claimed, along with many others, that Turkey's AKP government is giving militant groups connected to Al-Qaeda free reigns to operate in Turkey, writes Aydinlik Daily.
Turkey has widely been criticized for its interference in the internal affairs of neighboring Syria.
In relevant remarks in July, a senior Turkish politician lambasted Erdogan for his interfering policies in Syria, saying his approach encourages civil war in the Muslim country.
“Erdogan's policy for changing the Syrian government will yield no result but exacerbating the bloody civil war in the country,” Deputy Head of Turkey's National Movement Octay Uzturk told FNA at the time.
“Turkey alone is never able to infiltrate in Syria or change the country’s ruling system,” he added.
Turkey is among the countries that support militants inside Syria. Ankara provides military training for anti-Damascus militants along its borders with Syria.
In recent months, thousands of the Turkish people took to the streets in different cities to protest against their government's interference in Syria.
Demonstrators shouted anti-government slogans and held placards holding Erdogan's ruling AKP Party responsible for a possible genocide in Syria.
